Marie Fekroun

Marie discovered clay in Nepal at the end of a year-and-a-half journey through Asia and the Pacific. It was love at first sight with the material. Her journey continued to Colombia, where she spent several months with ceramicist Margarita Casas. There she experienced studio life and began her apprenticeship on a potter's wheel. After this privileged experience, Marie could think of nothing but clay and decided upon her return to pursue training in Spain, first in Seville, then in Granada. She worked as a production assistant in a studio in exchange for evening classes.
Now back in Marseille where she grew up, Marie spent 2 years at Atelier Déméterre, where she taught modeling classes, before finally opening her own studio at the end of 2024. There she crafts decorative and functional objects in small batches.
The focus of her artistic research revolves around mixtures and textures. Through these two processes, she creates organic and raw pieces, largely inspired by nature. Each object is made using slow modeling techniques and is often left unglazed, allowing the clay to reveal its natural beauty and texture.
