Born in Mumbai, India, and now based in Ottawa, Canada, Pooja Pawaskar is a sculptor whose work bridges cultural roots and contemporary expression. With a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Mumbai University and a Master’s in Furniture Design from SCAD, USA, her journey from structured design to sculpture reflects a deep exploration of selfhood, imperfection, and presence. Pooja works primarily with wood and plaster, embracing their raw, unpredictable nature to create sculptural and wall-mounted pieces that evoke connection and introspection.
Drawing inspiration from her South Asian heritage, Pooja’s practice is deeply personal yet universal, celebrating individuality in a global context. Her art resists categorization into traditional forms, instead embodying a modern, boundary-pushing aesthetic that reflects her identity as a contemporary artist.
