Oenochoos Black With Pattern

Sale price$467

This vessel's name is derived from the Greek οἶνος (oînos, “wine”) +‎ χέω (khéō, “to pour”). The artist's oenochoos is inspired by the shape of an ancient Greek wine jug. The piece is made by a combination of wheel-throwing and hand-building using black clay. The oenochoos' surface is decorated with a carved patter and inlaid with a homemade light blue crater glaze. The piece is fired to 1240°C.
