Physalis 06

Sale price$768

This sculptural piece is based on a physalis fruit. It stands on a slender foot and opens wide as a delicate blossom. Each flower has a unique structure carved into the clay. As with the real physalis blossom, you can imagine that the clay blossom is protecting an imaginary fruit. This piece is the epitome of how the artist perceives femininity with multiple facets. Materials are stoneware that is glazed both on the exterior and the interior. The vessel is waterproof.

About the Maker

Neckeramik - Marina Necker

After graduating from high school, I first went on a trip around the world because I am very interested in different landscapes and cultures. I started my studies in art and German language and literature at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich in 2005. After graduating, I started working as an art and German teacher and became the mother of two sons. After a few years, I realized that I really wanted to create something with my own hands again. Ceramics have been with me since I was a little girl, because my mother had converted our garage into a pottery studio and I was allowed to work with clay whenever I felt like it. I also loved the ceramics courses during my teacher training (art and German studies) and was then allowed to offer courses myself alongside my professor. I took over a studio in the creative quarter at Leonrodplatz in 2022. It is the place where I spend many free minutes and where my ceramic pieces are made and fired.
