White Vessel

Sale price$164

Handmade ceramic, white clay with grog. Made via hand-built coiling technique. The vessel's tactile materials and meditative process invite viewers to reflect on themes of vulnerability, resilience, and the beauty found in restoration. Through these works, the artist offers a powerful message about the importance of care, the necessity of connection, and the beauty of healing in both nature and ourselves. Each piece is crafted using clay collected from a lake, grounding the work in the very earth and water that nourish and sustain life. The choice to gather the clay from the lake imbues the pieces with a sense of place, connecting the artist's creations to the rhythms of nature and the passage of time.

About the Maker

Tere Pensel - Teresa Pensel

Since I was very young I’ve enjoyed working with my hands. This all began when my grandmother taught me how to knit and sew; I spent many afternoons in her living room among wool and scraps of fabric. For my family, art has always played an important part; this included the cinema, theater, and exhibitions.
I was born in Buenos Aires- a cradle of extraordinary talent and a showcase of innumerable artistic diversity from all over the world. The journey through different artistic expressions flowed naturally for me. It is also important to mention that I always felt nourished by the rich artistic legacy of the native people that inhabited Brazil early on… that has always deeply influenced my work.
I have traveled around my country, approaching different artistic spaces where diverse artistic expressions converged. Ceramics were always exciting to me; however it was many years until I finally approached the art form in a definitive way. I graduated as an apparel designer, and for 20 years, I worked as an independent entrepreneur designing clothing collections. This coincided with attending ceramic workshops where I found that I thoroughly enjoyed myself… I relaxed and it felt like a fun game. Almost unintentionally, I began to put together my first collection. I was encouraged by my sisters who have been a pillar throughout my life. When I offered this initial collection to interior design studios in Buenos Aires, I quickly sold the entire collection. Soon thereafter, more and more orders came in and my portfolio of clients grew to such an extent that decided to dedicated myself full-time to my new ceramic venture.
Starting in 2018, I have been lucky that wonderful opportunities followed one after the other; this has given me the opportunity to continue growing as an artist.
