Biophilia II

Sale price$1,508

Biophilia II is in reference to the word "biophilia" which is an innate connection with the natural world, a deep bond that extends beyond the visible... reaching the very core of observation itself. In this new series, the maker shows how a connection takes shape as a persistent curiosity about the origin and design of forms, a continuous inquiry into the "why" behind lines, textures, and patterns. Within Biophilia, the artist features faces, creatures, and imaginary microcosms appear unreal, yet strangely inevitable, as if they had always existed on another plane of nature. The result is a body of work that challenges the boundary between what is seen and what is projected. Biophilia thus positions itself as an exercise in visual listening, an invitation to pay attention to the direct act of observation. Biophilia II is constructed from handmade tiles that have a burned pine wood framing.

About the Maker

Pareidólia Design

Tatiana Ferreira is a Portuguese designer currently based in Lisbon. She creates unique, handcrafted objects and furniture, using clay as her primary medium. With nearly five years of experience in architecture and at a contemporary art museum, Tatiana felt the need to translate the knowledge gained in these fields into the creation of special objects, fostering a more intimate relationship with handcrafted work.
Since establishing her studio in Lisbon, she has been dedicated to rediscovering the craft side of design. Her work focuses primarily on one-of-a-kind everyday objects, exploring the plasticity of clay, its limits, and the interaction between object and user. She is driven by the idea that objects have an innate power to enhance the user’s mood through their form and function. Tatiana focuses on both functional and decorative pieces, ensuring that one aspect does not overshadow the other. Her goal is to transform these pieces in ways that are surprising and delightful, elevating the user experience.
