Distorted Moon 04 is hand-built in black reclaimed clay and glazed on the inside for functionality. Distorted Moon is a sculptural series that embodies the delicate balance between the celestial and the terrestrial. Distorted Moon 04 evokes textured lunar landscapes, where the rawness of the material meets a minimalist and contemplative aesthetic. The surfaces transition between rough, crater-like areas and polished finishes that capture light that is reminiscent of the interplay between shadow and illumination on the moon’s surface. The Moon Series explores the connections between earthly matter and the infinite cosmos, paying homage to natural cycles and the poetry of irregular surfaces.

Siham Djebbar is a Paris based ceramic artist creating handbuilt sculptural pieces that sit between art and design. With a background in marketing and then in interior design and a deep connection to form and texture, her work is intuitive, tactile and architectural. She works primarily with stoneware and earthenware, using slow, ancestral techniques like coiling and pinching. Her multicultural background, having lived in Algeria, China, California and France, informs a practice rooted in organic movement, raw materials and a sense of presence.
