Chous Ceramics was founded by Despina and Giorgos Chous. The couple is passionate about bringing the beauty of hand-built ceramics to art enthusiasts worldwide. Despite Despina's background in industrial management and banking and Giorgos' background in graphic and web design, they've seamlessly combined their unique skills to create a ceramic studio where art and innovation converge. Despina and Giorgos are inspired by the desire to create truly meaningful pieces.
As their family grew, Despina felt a strong pull towards a more creative and fulfilling life; as such, she left her banking career to pursue her passion for ceramics. With his eye for aesthetics and expertise in design, Giorgos brought a fresh perspective to the handmade pieces. Chous Ceramics opened in the couple's hometown of Sparta, Greece... this felt like the perfect next step! Despina and Giorgos are devoted to creating authentic works of art that celebrate the beauty of nature and human beings' creative spirit.
Chloi
Rising from a slender, tapered base, Chloi gives the impression of effortless weightlessness. Its name pays homage to the ancient Greek word for spring's first tender green (Χλόη), celebrating renewal and botanical vitality. Hand-coiled in Sparta with a fine-grained, grog-rich clay body, the vessel's asymmetric rim mimics a leaf responding to the morning breeze. One side swells in a soft, continuous wave, while the opposite edge lifts into a sharp, curling crest that folds inward toward the light. The delicate chartreuse slip endows the matte surface with a subtle radiance, catching soft daylight like fields at dawn. The result is a piece defined by natural rhythm, movement, and an unmistakable organic freshness.
