Viga Downlight

Sale price$420

The Viga Downlight is a  directed beam of light in handbuilt black clay and unfinished brass — made to illuminate a single painting, piece or art, or surface. Or a series of them, evenly spaced above an island, turning a kitchen into something more considered. The clay is raw and dark. The brass is left as it comes. The interior is glazed black — reflective, so the warmth of the bulb catches and amplifies as it finds its way out. The light that arrives is softer than the source. Handbuilt black clay. Reflective black glazed interior. Unfinished brass hardware. Integrated LED, dimmable with adjustable light temperature. 17.5 inches long, 2.5 inches wide. Made to order in custom sizes and quantities — inquire for details. Requires a junction box cover for installation.

About the Maker

Studio Trent Kendrick

Trent Kendrick is a Chicago-based lighting designer and ceramicist. A fourth generation maker, he studied interior design at Harrington College of Design and has built a practice rooted in handmade work — ceramics, lighting, and paintings — all made by hand in his Chicago studio. Each lighting piece is hand-built, combining materials like ceramic, brass, and natural fibres, and designed to feel more like an object than a fixture.
