Chous Ceramics was founded by Despina and Giorgos Chous. The couple is passionate about bringing the beauty of hand-built ceramics to art enthusiasts worldwide. Despite Despina's background in industrial management and banking and Giorgos' background in graphic and web design, they've seamlessly combined their unique skills to create a ceramic studio where art and innovation converge. Despina and Giorgos are inspired by the desire to create truly meaningful pieces.
As their family grew, Despina felt a strong pull towards a more creative and fulfilling life; as such, she left her banking career to pursue her passion for ceramics. With his eye for aesthetics and expertise in design, Giorgos brought a fresh perspective to the handmade pieces. Chous Ceramics opened in the couple's hometown of Sparta, Greece... this felt like the perfect next step! Despina and Giorgos are devoted to creating authentic works of art that celebrate the beauty of nature and human beings' creative spirit.
Ouranos
Ouranos is named after the Greek God of the sky, evokes primordial power. Ouranos was a finalist in the 1st International Sculpture Triennale in Polland in 2025. This sculptural vessel's undulating form and pointed apex intricately create apresence, grasps the viewer through an entry point, enticing him to experience the resonating rhythms of life. Its undulating form and pointed apex intricately create a feeling of both tension and balance. This harmony of receding forms in space allows the light to dance upon them, accentuating a simplistic and uniquely minimalistic beauty... an important reminder of the universe. Made from stoneware clay via a coiling techinique, this vessle is painted with a terra sigillata slip and fired at 1220 celcius.
